Planty Updates

Hi everyone! I hope you have had a great start to your week so far. If you tuned into my Live Facebook video in our Always Willow group, thank you! I was slightly nervous, but I ended up enjoying the experience. Planting cuttings is excited & nerve-wracking all at once. Fingers crossed they adapt to the soil well & grow a lot. I want to do another Live video within the next week or two. All of my propagations have been transplanted to the soil so I have a lot of empty jars ready for some cuttings. I have a few different plants I want to propagate so tune in if you want some tips on the process.

My Peace Lily bloomed! However, I think it has been struggling. Spathiphyllum love moist soil & I currently have it in a Terra-cotta pot. As you may know, they wick away the water quickly (which makes them great for cacti & succulents. I'm considering repotting her because I can't seem to give her enough water. She is such a drama queen.

Check out the flowers!

My Christmas Cactus hasn't changed much. It's shown a lot of new growth and I am considering propagating it a bit to help fill in the pot. I haven't fully decided yet. Do you have any suggestions?

This last one I am most excited about. This poor Kalanchoe was first introduced to you in "How I Grew a Green Thumb". I will reshare some older pictures below. I had literally no clue how to care for this plant. It was a lot of trial & a lot of error followed by a lot of research. It turns out I first over watered this plant. I then repotted her and then kept her away from the sun. This is why her leaves were small and sparse.

From Left to Right: Leggy Kalanchoe, trimmed the limbs off to propagate in water, new growth & larger leaves, the trimmings showing roots.

Progress was slow, but progress none the less.

I wanted to show you a close up of the aerial roots.

I'm so excited to watch these plants grow!

Look how beautiful!

Kalanchoes actually bloom all year & this one hasn't bloomed since I first got it almost two years ago! When it finally does bloom again, it will be a proud plant mom moment for me!

Thanks for reading this week. Our living room is complete! It's pretty minimal right now but I plan to share the transformation soon! So don't forget to subscribe so you never miss another post.
