Cozy Fall Mornings

This morning, I woke up about 15 minutes before my alarm went off. Usually, this would piss me off & I would toss around trying to fall back asleep so I can hit the snooze button a few times in order to get in some extra sleep --only to wake up way more tired.

Instead, I got up with a smile on my face & started my morning routine. It was beautiful. Completely dark, chilly & every other soul in the house sound asleep...

....except for my five cats who have been acting like starving lions lately. Sadie put 3 lbs in the last 6 months so now I have to limit their food intake & that is just a whole other blog post. Zach thinks they are plotting their revenge...

... Anyways, back to the dark, chilly & quiet morning, I was just describing. I know most people dread the short days during winter because we spend most of the day in a building when we should be outside. We need that sunlight so make sure you give that to yourself this season. Make an effort to get outside during your lunch break even if that means throwing on a bunch of layers and some snow boots. Awaken your inner child! I'm sure they have been asleep for far too long.

I personally, look forward to these days because although daylight is limited, nature basically forces you to slow down. It's hygge. I needed the two hours all to myself this morning a lot more than I realized. I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill, enjoyed breakfast, a cup of tea, journaled & read a book all before the sun decided to shine.

I am so grateful for mornings like that.

Are you an early bird? Or a night owl? I always thought I was a night owl until I woke up before the sun. Let me know on Instagram @always_willow & don't forget to subscribe.

Always,
